Vivekananda Short Film Contest 2019

Commemorating Globally The 125th Anniversary Of The Chicago Addresses Of Swami Vivekananda

Dear Youth, One hundred and twenty five years ago on 11 September 1893, Swami Vivekananda delivered his first address at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago. The speech electrified the audience and drew the attention of the entire world towards India. In fact, it was only after this glorious speech that Indians and Indian culture came to be respected all over the world. His lectures, letters, and conversations have guided and inspired people across the world for the past 125 years.

Even today there are several original things that we can learn from the life and literature of Swami Vivekananda. Ramakrishna Math invite you all to produce short film based on Vivekananda’s message on one or more of the following six themes and win prizes.

Themes

1 THE IMMENSE POWER OF YOUTH
Swami Vivekananda: “We want that energy, that love of independence, that spirit of self-reliance, that immovable fortitude, that dexterity in action, that bond of unity of purpose, that thirst for improvement.”

2 THE PATRIOTISM THAT INDIA NEEDS TODAY
Swami Vivekananda: “Three things are necessary to make every man great, every nation great: 1. Conviction of the powers of goodness, 2. Absence of jealously and suspicion, 3. Helping all who are trying to be and do good.”

3 THE INNER STRENGTH OF WOMANHOOD
Swami Vivekananda: “With five hundred men, the conquest of India might take fifty years : with as many women, not more than a

4 THE INDIAN VISION FOR WORLD PEACE ACCORDING TO SWAMI VIVEKANANDA
Swami Vivekananda: “Upon the banner of every religion will soon be written, in spite of resistance: “Help and not Fight,” “Assimilation and not Destruction,” “Harmony and Peace and not Dissension.”

5 ACCEPT ALL VIEWS & GROW IN WISDOM IN YOUR OWN WAY WITHOUT LOSING YOUR UNIQUENESS
Swami Vivekananda: “The Christian is not to become a Hindu or a Buddhist, nor a Hindu or a Buddhist to become a Christian. Each must assimilate the spirit of the others and yet preserve his individuality and grow according to his own law of growth.”

6 GODLINESS THROUGH NURTURING AND PROTECTING NATURE
Swami Vivekananda: Our ancient wisdom propagated environmental protection and sustenance. Today we see the reverse happening in every sphere of life. It’s time for us to heed Swami Vivekananda’s clarion call to “take responsibilities on our shoulders” by scripting the wisdom of our country to make this planet sustainable for future generations.
