StoryMirror, India's premier website for stories and poems presents India’s biggest Writing Competition - 'StoryMirror Schools Writing Competition - 2018 (SSWC 2018)'

The competition is aimed to spark up the creative energy of students & teachers and help them incline towards writing & literature in an era where they are more inclined to social media and smartphones. In the era of social media, where focus and attention span of younger ones is getting diverted, this kind of initiative will definitely help students.

The main purpose of the competition is “To nourish the writing skills and identify young writers, and help them in their literary journey”.

So, put your thinking hats on, let your words mesmerize the world and "Find the creativity within, beyond imagination."

Students of Class IV to XII, Teachers

Participant Categories:
Class 4 to Class 7
Class 8 to Class 12

Contest Categories:

There is no maximum word limit for both the categories. Content can be submitted in English as well as Hindi. There are no themes and topics for this contest and you can write stories and poems in any genre.

How to Participate?

  • Sign in / register on You can register using self / parent’s Facebook, Gmail or by creating new account on StoryMirror website. If you are using parent’s account, please remember to enter your name by using “Edit Profile” option under profile section, else content will be displayed in parent’s name.
  • One account can be used for submission / participation of one student / teacher only. For example, if you want to participate in Teacher category and your child want to participate in Student category, both need to participate from separate accounts. Or for example, you have two children who want to participate, both need to participate from different accounts.
  • If you are an existing writer on StoryMirror, and your child wants to participate in the competition, we suggest you to create a new account with child’s name.
  • After sign in / registration, click on participate button and then enter your credentials like phone number, grade, participant name, pin code of school, school name, date of birth, etc.
  • After this you will need to pay one time non-refundable registration fee of Rs.100 + GST. You will receive voucher of the same amount which can be used to buy books from Participation fee is per registration and not per submission.
  • After payment, you can start submitting your stories and poems. You will receive a mail confirming the submission as well online publishing of your entry. You can also check status of your entry under your profile page on

Contest Period – 17th September, 2018 (00:01 hrs) to 30th November 2018 (23:59 hrs) IST. Any entries received post the Contest Period shall be considered void.
Voting Period – 1st December, 2018 to 31st December, 2018
Results – January, 2019.
