Essay Topic:
The Relevance of Mahatma Gandhi today in the context of
- Social Responsibility OR
- World Peace OR
- Environment OR
- Non Violence in Action OR
- Human Rights

Prizes
1st: Economy class return flight ticket for 1 person to/from Mumbai, India.
The purpose is to visit Gandhi Ashram in Wardha, Maharashtra or Sabarmati Ahmedabad (in low season airfare).
2nd: A laptop / Ipad with MS Office software
3rd: Bhavan’s books on Indian Culture worth approx $100 plus $300 in cash.

Rules & guidelines
- Entries close on 16 July 2017.
- Only 1 entry per student will be accepted.
- Eligibility: Entrants must be students currently enrolled at an Australian or Indian university.
- Age Limit: The competition is open to students of age group 18 - 30 years
- Family or relatives of the Directors and office bearers of the Bhavan Australia are not eligible to enter.
- Prizes will be presented during the Nonviolence month 2-31 October 2017.
Essay 3500-4000 words in length
- Must be typewritten, double spaced an A4 sized white paper and
numbered pages.
- Name and contact details of the entrant shall be on the cover sheet only (see below) and shall not occur on the essay itself. Essays with name or identifying marks shall not be accepted.
- Entries can be mailed or e-mailed. Essays are to be mailed in A4 sized envelope and e-mailed as pdf file.
- Must be the sole work of the student.
- Must be original, unpublished and undistributed material.
- Must be accompanied with full bibliography/reference list.
- References may be in footnotes or Harvard style (i.e. contained in body of essay).
- A cover sheet must accompany the essay and contain the following details: name, date of birth, address, telephone, email (if applicable), name and address of high school/university, student identification number (where applicable), course, and academic/school year.
- Entries will be judged by a panel, selected by the Bhavan.
- Decision of the panel shall be final.
