About World Space Week
World Space Week (WSW) is the largest annual space event worldwide with 1,400 events in more than 80 countries. It is an exciting international astronomical event organized by the United Nations General Assembly from 4-10 October every year. These dates commemorate two historic events:
  • 4 October, 1957 marks the launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1.
  • 10 October, 1967 marks the signing of the Treaty on Principles governing the activities of states in the exploration and peaceful uses of outer space.
